Louay Nasser is an extraordinary fashion and product photographer from Cairo, Egypt. He finds that most of his inspiration comes from the location and materials around him come from the locations and materials around him. He is also fairly motivated in being keen to plan every detail when it comes to his commercial work. As for his projects, however, he finds a drive to experiment with new things and indulge in whatever’s accessible to him to create a cordial body of work with minimal production. Louay told fekr that his motivation to do said work allows him to “broaden the way he approaches shoots and the way he works.” The ability to express himself and have the freedom to portray his own ideas with the acknowledgment that it’ll  come out as plans is what initially got him interested in photography. “Like that plain canvas to play with no restrictions.”

The creatives favorite piece of work was the shoot he did for Helmer bags. Louay worked on the shoot from A to Z, the complexity to create something different was the basis for the shoot. Stones were handpicked from different places and loads of sands were carried to the studio, wild animals also came into play and he describes his experience with them as, “quite challenging, yet fun experience.” The photographer also believes, however, that every project is special in its own way and it's the time that one spends with the team or the work that goes into the process that allows him to look back at the work being a special experience, especially when he can finally see the result.

Louay believes that his inspiration for his work isn’t something that an individual can specifically pinpoint. Rather, the source of inspiration comes from multiple factors; the people to work around, movies, materials, and locations play a role in the motivation for ideas behind his work. When it comes to his commercial work however, he generally finds inspiration from the collection itself. For the Helmer shoot, for example, the theme was “desert scenes.” The first shot a campaign with the bags with an Egyptian desert aesthetic, as well as the bags collection being travel bags with high-end materials with clean detailing. “We saw that the contrast of the rugged and rough desert shots will complement the fine craftsmanship of the bags.”

Although the photographer believes that many of the problems he’s had in the past in the industry are partially resolved now, an issue that he often finds is the difficulty in shooting in public locations, “There are too many permits required which complicates things so much, and I feel it’s such a waste to have so many beautiful places that we can’t access.” Louay's goal as a photographer is to have his work internationally recognized. “ I want to create an agency with a team of highly talented photographers, videographers, art directors, fashion stylists, make-up artists, and models; bringing together the best of their skills to create high-end unique visuals for the client.”
