MEET SIZER

Sizer, also known as Adam, is an aspiring young musician. He describes himself mostly as a DJ, producer, and rapper, who mostly works with a UK underground sound. Getting into the creative world has always been a gradual process for Sizer,  from always being into rap at a young age to getting interested in EDM, which is what helped him start DJing, and producing and then later rapping.

Sizer states that his favorite piece of his own would be Mayhem, his 11 song project that was released in December 2019. It was a collaborative project including many of Sizer’s friends and artists in the Dubai scene. “It’s a project where I really broke into my own and was able to showcase my talents in a way I'm proud of,” he tells Fekr. Also, Sizer always loved to work on projects, he believes it gives a great insight into an artist’s style. For him, the inspiration behind Mayhem was drawn from different styles and genres such as; Afrobeat, UK rap, and West Coast rap.

One of the most prominent issues in the creative world, specifically in the UAE, would be the fact that people would rather support international artists rather than local artists. “In the UAE, it seems like we have hit a ceiling with people interested in underground music and local artists,” says Sizer. Also, some changes Sizer would like to see happen is more support for the new different sounds coming out of the UAE, which is something I believe we could all agree on.

Even though Sizer is staying active and creating beats during this pandemic, it’s still been hard to find inspiration while being stuck in quarantine, since most of what he writes about is the world around him.

When asked what piece of advice he would give his younger self, Sizer mentioned; “I would encourage my 16-year-old self to be more consistent with putting out music to the world without caring what people think too much. This is something I'm implementing as an artist now.”
